Festivities

The festivities in Torrevieja are famous for their diversity. In December, local residents celebrate the “Inmaculada Concepción” (Immaculate Conception), their patroness. During these holidays, the Salt Queen is chosen, the most beautiful women in Torrevieja. Another important festival for the residents of Torrevieja is the Festival in Honour of the “Virgen del Carmen”, patroness of the fishermen. The fishermen take the Virgin out through the streets near the harbour bay; they organise pole games, a paella competition, etc.

These are the most traditional festivities but we also celebrate festivals from other regions, such as the May Festival, with numerous stalls, performances, dances, cuisines, etc. which faithfully reflect Seville’s atmosphere during its festival. It is one of the biggest festivals in the Valencian territory.
